Standards

Editorial Policy

The route every article on everythingweddings-orlando.com takes from idea to publication, and what we refuse to publish.

What this document is

Anyone can claim to be careful. This page sets out what careful means at Everything Weddings Orlando in enough detail that you can check whether we keep to it.

How a page gets written

  • Dump first. Everything the writer believes goes down, unsorted.
  • Mark the soft parts. Anything held on memory rather than evidence gets flagged.
  • Check or cut. A flagged claim is either supported or removed. There is no third option.
  • Second reader. Somebody else hunts for sentences that sound more certain than the evidence allows.

What we will not publish

  • Guarantees. Nobody in this field can honestly offer one.
  • Filler written to occupy a topic rather than to answer it.
  • Anything we would be embarrassed to defend in person.

How we date articles

The date you see is real. A tidy up of wording leaves it alone; only a change to what the piece recommends moves the modified date, along with a note saying so.

How the site earns

A few of the links here make us money. That covers the running costs and stops well short of buying a kinder paragraph around them.

When a partner leans on us to bury a negative line, we keep the line and the email. The leaning tells readers something the original page could not.

How we choose what to write

Topics come from three places: reader mail, our own notes, and gaps we notice while reading what else is published. Nothing gets written because a keyword tool suggested it.

Bylines

Nothing is published anonymously. A name on a page means somebody can be asked about it later, and that is the only accountability a small site has.

Delphine Arceneaux, Planning editor. Delphine coordinated weddings around Lake Eola for years and writes the checklists she wishes couples had.

Graham Whitley, Games and culture writer. Graham met his wife in an online raid group and writes about how gaming shows up in modern romance.

Soledad Ibarra, Budget and venues writer. Soledad tracks venue prices across Central Florida and helps couples see where the money actually goes.

How mistakes are handled

Write to [email protected] with the page address and what is wrong. Factual errors are fixed quickly. If the correction changes the conclusion of a piece, we add a short note at the foot of the page rather than quietly editing it.
